Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Dyer Vineyard; Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon Grown On Diamond Mountain

2014 was defined by a warm spring with enough rain in March and April to set the vineyard up for good growth. Temperatures during the growing season were warm but not hot—more often in the 80’s than 90’s. With an early bloom, the growing season was quite long, with harvest taking place on September 22. The blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot were harvested together and co-fermented in a single tank. One ton of Cabernet Franc was fermented, aged, and bottled separately

The 2014 is another in a string of excellent vintages. Lovely tannin development in the vineyard translated into vibrant fruit and velvety firmness that extracted completely in the fermentation. This is one of our most graceful wines to date.

– BILL & DAWNINE

Dyer Vineyard, located mid slope on Diamond Mountain, with its NW facing bench and rocky volcanic soils, thrives in such conditions. 2014 Dyer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits black cherry fruit laced thru with enticing notes of lavender, dried herb de provence and savory notes. A graceful, pretty balance and weight with a long, lingering finish.

What The Critics Are Saying…

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is fabulous. Intensely aromatic and finely sculpted, but also resonant in the glass, the 2014 has a lot going on. Today, the fruit is understandably quite primary. With another few years, though, the 2014 should be a real jewel of a wine. Inky blue/purplish fruits, graphite, lavender and menthol are laced into the exquisite, delicate finish. Dyer remains one of the true undiscovered gems of Napa Valley. This is a style that will appeal most to classically leaning palates. Tasted 12/16, 93 points

ANTONIO GALLONI, VINOUS

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain: The nose is an intense black plum and alluring black current, spice with shadings of mint and wet stone. The palate is beautifully poised black fruit on entry with an underlying chocolate and rich yet sleek brown spices all merging into a long, bright, well-defined vibrant finish.
