In Napa Valley the 2014 vintage was exceptional. Bud break was early as a result of the warm winter and the growing season was quite long. Rain in March and April came just in time to provide the water needed for a smooth growing season. The vintage was relatively cool bringing some concerns in July about high humidity and mildew. Even with numerous challenges during the growing season, perfect ripeness at low sugar levels was achieved and harvest took place on September 22. Intensely flavored grapes harvested at perfect maturity make 2014 one of our best Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
The fruit for this wine is sourced exclusively from the Dyer Vineyard Estate located on the prestigious slopes of Diamond Mountain in the Napa Valley. This mountain vineyard experiences day-to-night temperature swings that allow the Cabernet grapes to retain their natural acidity. The vineyard has rocky, volcanic soil, providing the most favorable growing conditions for producing complex Cabernet Sauvignon. Sustainable farming practices are tailored to ensure the production of high quality, delicious, fruit forward and charming wine.
The Dyer Cabernet Sauvignon wine is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot.
